Introducing, The Cecilia
Cecilia is a romantic side/display table adorned with Leonardo Da Vinci’s, renaissance piece, ‘Lady with an Ermine’ from 1489.
The woman in the painting is Cecilia Gallerani who was 16 years old at the time the piece was painted. She fell in love with and became the mistress of the Prince of Milan, Lodovico Sforza. As they couldn’t be painted together because he was due to marry another, the Ermine represents Sforza and her love for him.
Cecilia is a beautiful little side table that has also been decoupaged with a gold and black Versace print and gilded by hand to accentuate her carved details. She also has a glass top for extra protection.
She would look fab teamed with another of my pieces, The Catarina-see separate listing.
